How I Build Custom GPTs Without Code (And Why Creatives Are More Qualified Than They Think)

If you've ever thought, "AI sounds cool, but I'm not techy enough for that," this post is for you.

Because the way I build custom GPTs?
It’s more like developing a theater production than writing software.
No code. No jargon. Just voice notes, intuition, and clear storytelling.

And if you're a coach, creative, or storyteller—
you may already have the skills to do this too.

What Is Vibe Development? (And Why It Matters in AI)

Let’s start with something I call vibe development.

It’s like vibe coding, but without actual code.
You're not just building a tool—you’re shaping a full-body experience.
Something that feels like you and helps your people take action with clarity.

Most GPTs feel... generic. The ones I build don’t.

Because I approach them like performances or rituals. They’re designed to move people.

My Theater Background Is My Tech Advantage

Before diving into the AI space, I spent 30+ years developing theater.
Writing. Acting. Directing. Producing. All from scratch.

That experience taught me how to take a single idea and turn it into something alive.
Something immersive. Something that connects.

And guess what? That’s exactly what GPT development is.

You’re crafting an interaction. One that guides, reveals, reflects, supports.

Here’s How I Build a Custom GPT (Step-by-Step)

If you're curious what that actually looks like in practice, here's my real workflow:

Step 1: The Nature Walk Voice Note

I go on a walk and talk it out. A full 12–18 minute voice ramble about:

  • What this GPT is for

  • Who it’s for

  • What I want it to feel like

  • How it should behave, respond, support, and sell

  • What tech constraints I’m working with

  • Where it fits in someone’s funnel or business

Step 2: Transcription → Blueprint

That voice note gets transcribed and becomes my working blueprint.
It contains everything I need to build a first draft.

Step 3: Drafting With the Right AI

I use Claude, OpenAI, or Manus depending on how fleshed out the idea is.
From there, I generate system prompts and user instructions.

Step 4: Iterate With AI (and Myself)

I check where the draft is off.
Does it oversimplify?
Miss emotional or strategic nuance?
Lose tone?
I layer in what’s missing. I refine.

Step 5: Simulation and Testing

Once it's close, I drop it into Operator—an AI testing tool that runs simulations and gives me a report on what works and what needs a fix.

Step 6: Beta and Final Edits

After that?
A few trusted testers get their hands on it, and I polish until it’s not just functional—it’s elevating.

You Don’t Have to Be Techy to Build Like This

This isn’t the kind of AI building most people are used to.
But it’s the kind that makes sense if you come from a world of transformation, storytelling, or service.

So if you’re a coach, healer, rebel, artist, or facilitator… you’re not behind.
You're exactly the kind of person who can bring AI to life in a way that feels aligned.

Want to Learn How to Do This Yourself?

I’m thinking of running a live workshop on how to build your own GPTs like this.
Storytelling, strategy, and powerful AI that speaks your voice.

If you're curious, send me a message or drop your name here and I’ll let you know when it opens.

This is AI for the intuitive ones.
And it’s forever going to change how you think about tech.
