Introduction
Hey there! I’m Diamando, an intuitive business coach with a deep connection to nature. This morning, I was out for a walk, doing a bit of spring cleaning — not in my house, but in my head & heart. I want to share some raw, real talk about purpose, passion, and, yeah, the big P: procrastination.
Purpose, Passion, and Procrastination: The Three P’s
While soaking in the fresh air and the sounds of the birds, I started reflecting on how purpose, passion, and procrastination are deeply interconnected in our lives. These three P’s — though they might seem distinct — are actually a cycle where one leads to another, shaping our actions and reactions.
Look, the world’s bursting with things to get passionate about. The universe hands us endless opportunities to find what lights us up. When you’re truly lit by your passion, that’s when you find your purpose. It’s that simple — and that complicated.
But Here’s the Catch: Procrastination
Here’s the kicker though: the very places where we find our passion and purpose are also where we procrastinate the most. Why? Because diving deep into what truly moves us is scary. It opens up avenues for growth and expansion that can feel overwhelming.
And yeah, there are external factors, but let’s be honest — we often get in our own way. Even when we feel that deep, visceral connection to our passion and we know it’s our true calling, we block ourselves.
Exploring the Connections
Passion is what gets you up in the morning; it’s that fire that fuels your day. When you tap into what you are truly passionate about, you’re driven to act, to engage deeply with your life and work. However, that same intensity of feeling can be daunting. It’s a powerful force that, paradoxically, can lead to procrastination when the fear of not living up to our own expectations kicks in.
This procrastination isn’t just laziness; it’s often a sign of something deeper — perhaps anxiety or a fear of failure or even success. It’s the pause before we fully commit to the path that our purpose has laid out for us. Recognizing this can be a game changer.
When aligned with your passion, your purpose gives your life a clear direction. Yet, discovering and accepting your purpose can be intimidating, which again feeds into procrastination. It’s a cycle — passion ignites purpose, purpose demands action, and fear of embracing these fully can lead us to procrastinate.
Spring Cleaning: My Go-To Strategy
That’s where spring cleaning (a Mama Gena practice) comes in. It’s not just about dusting off shelves; it’s about clearing out the mental and emotional clutter. In my money activation mini course (here), I walk you through how to do this with your thoughts about money — or anything else that’s on your mind.
Just ask yourself: “What do I have today?” Play that on repeat, answer it, and start to clear out all the grimy sludge and the icky cobwebs. Doing this can give you clarity, at least for a while, and hopefully in a lasting way if you do this consistently.
Embracing the World’s Wonders
If you can do this while staring at an incredible hawk perched at the top of a pine tree — just wow. Take a moment to be in awe. The world is amazing, and so are you. We have gifts, and the world wants to collaborate with us to bring these gifts to people.
